Partnerships for a vibrant, diverse, and loved Lake Street.
Lake Street Lift connects local businesses, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and creatives living and working on Lake Street with project-based resourcing, creating partnerships for a vibrant, diverse, and loved Lake Street.
Background
In 2023, the State of Minnesota appropriated $8 million to the City of Minneapolis to support the economic health and vitality of the Lake Street Corridor. The Graves Foundation was selected to administer this funding on October 31, 2024.
Working with partners, The Graves Foundation will administer Lake Street Lift from November 1st, 2024, through June 30th, 2025, along a legislatively designated geography, East Lake Street from Nicollet to 30th Ave S.
This funding will be used to create a more vibrant, safe, and growing Lake Street, celebrating the diverse communities that call this place home. For more information…
If you are an artist, community group, or event host seeking sponsorship or project-based support, learn more and connect.
If you run a for-profit or non-profit within our geographic boundary, Lake Street Lift can connect you with Business advising or Real Estate consulting support.
We’re grateful to the State of Minnesota and the City of Minneapolis for making Lake Street Lift possible.
update
We’re excited to share that the Lake Street Lift Project has been officially extended, allowing our work to continue through Spring 2026.
This extension offers valuable time to complete the commitments already underway, helping ensure thoughtful implementation and strong outcomes across all areas of the project. While no new funding has been added, this additional time supports the completion of work already contracted and in progress.
Over the coming months, we’ll continue working with our partners to:
Complete small business advising and marketing services
Finalize public art installations and placemaking projects
Support remaining festival activations and creative programming
Continue evaluation and storytelling that reflects the lived experiences of Lake Street’s businesses and communities.
Please note: This extension does not include additional funds or expanded contracts. If you have deliverables remaining, we strongly encourage you to move forward with implementation now to stay on track.
We are deeply grateful to all of our partners for their dedication, creativity, and flexibility. We look forward to working closely with you to bring this next phase of the Lake Street Lift to a strong and meaningful close.
